Kathy Belcher, Senior Guest Services Manager at Northstar, has one goal for each visitor who comes to the winery. “I am passionate about ensuring every visitor has a memorable experience,” she says.
Joining the team in May 2013, Kathy brings a passion for making exceptional guest experiences and a long career showcasing her aptitude in creating them.
Belcher is a 1979 graduate of the University of Oregon and immediately after graduation started a guest services career in retail, which helped her understand that guest services is all about the small details that add up to make exceptional experiences.
“It’s the thousand little things that make guests’ experiences memorable — the flowers at the entry, the welcoming atmosphere, the tasting service and a departure that ends in a ‘thank you,’” she says. “Having a great facility and great wine goes with the territory at Northstar, but it is my job to ensure that every person who walks into our winery has the opportunity to experience our wines, our facility and our staff at their finest.”
Prior to her move to Walla Walla, she helped create, manage and oversee guest services for several large, internationally recognized brands in the luxury travel, clothing and kitchenware industries.
Growing up in Portland, Oregon, she nurtured her affection for wine by visiting many of the region’s prestigious wineries, including Northstar. When the opportunity at Northstar came up Belcher said she was thoroughly delighted to apply and was truly honored when she was asked to blend both her passions to fill the role at the estate.
“It is a dream to combine my passion for wine, customer service, marketing and my team all in one job,” she says.
